Simon Evans: Genius
Saturday 28th April

Ever since he was a small boy, all Evans really wanted was to be recognised by the world as a man of genius. He has, until now, remained thwarted. The world seems increasingly indifferent to true genius of any kind, let alone Evans’. Endlessly distracted by the trivial, we allow the classical tools of grammar, logic and rhetoric to lie unregarded in the shed of consciousness, rusting to a picturesque hue that would actually look really great on Instagram. But which filter? Hmmm…

Thursday 10th May

RICH HALL’S HOEDOWN
Rich Hall brings his critically acclaimed new show to St Ives.
There has never been a better time to be an American comedian in the UK. Hall’s precision dismantling of the tenuous relationship between two countries is as freewheeling and deadly accurate as ever. His BBC Four documentaries, most recently Rich Hall’s Countrier Than You and Rich Hall’s Presidential Grudge Match and BBC Radio 4 series Rich Hall’s (US Election) Breakdown have built him a new legion of followers, as has appearances on Have I Got News For You and QI. But if you’ve only ever seen Hall on TV, you’ve short-changed yourself.

“As close as it gets to a guaranteed good show” Scotland on Sunday

The Hoedown begins as a withering dissection of Trump’s America, but ends up being a celebration of Americana. There’s stand-up, improvised ballads, cracking good musicianship, and ultimately a hilarious, foot-stomping, shit-kicking good time to be had by all. Even if you don’t own a hoe.

Tom Allen : Absolutely
Thursday 10th May

The sharply dressed, well spoken, disparagingly camp son of working class Bromley, Tom Allen embarks on his debut solo tour of the UK

‘Catch him now and you’ll be able to tell people how you saw him before he was famous.’ The Telegraph

As seen on 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown, Live at the Apollo, The Great British Bake O ’s Extra Slice, The John Bishop Show, Virtually Famous, Channel 4’s Comedy Gala at the O2 and heard on Radio 4’s Just a Minute.

‘Riotous stuff, perfectly delivered.’ Scotsman

In the last year Tom has supported Sarah Millican around the world, sold out his Edinburgh and London runs and even passed his driving test!

‘The camply refined comic’s Afternoon Tea chat show was a highlight of this year’s Edinburgh festival, so it’s great to see his light-entertainment prowess being recognised’ The Independent.

Austentatious is saddling the horses for a Grand Tour of the United Kingdom!

Austentatious is an improvised comedy play starring a cast of the country’s quickest comic performers (Rachel Parris, Joseph Morpurgo, Amy Cooke-Hodgson, Andrew Hunter Murray, Cariad Lloyd, Charlotte Gittins, Daniel Nils Roberts & Graham Dickson) Every single show the cast conjure up a brand new ‘lost’ Jane Austen novel based on nothing more than a title suggested by the audience.

The show comes fresh from six sellout runs at the Edinburgh Fringe, a monthly residency in London’s West End and a BBC Radio 4 special to mark the bicentenary of Austen’s death. Now their show will be appearing at theatres across the country to entertain and astonish audiences in equal measure.

Previous ‘lost’ masterpieces have included Sixth Sense & SensibilityDouble 0 Darcy and Mansfield Shark, and no two shows are ever the same. Performed in period costume with live musical accompaniment, this is a Regency treat guaranteed to delight Austen novices and die-hard fans alike.

David O’Doherty: YOU HAVE TO LAUGH
Unlock your mind bra’s David O’Doherty is back on tour with a brand new show made up of talking and songs played on a crappy keyboard from 1986.
As seen on BBC2’s Live At The Apollo and Channel 4’s 8 Out Of 10 Cats Does Countdown

David O’Doherty is a multi-award-winning comedian, author and musician, with a real emotional depth at the core of his seemingly fanciful material.

First nominated for the Best Newcomer Award in 2000 for his show The Story of the Boy Who Saved Comedy, David went on to win the main Edinburgh Comedy Award (formerly Perrier Award) in 2008 for Let’s Comedy.

He’s also a successful children’s author, publishing his first book Ronan Long Gets It Wrong in 2000 followed by100 Facts About Pandas and 100 Facts About Sharks. His current trilogy Danger Is Everywhere: SCHOOL OF DANGER was nominated for the Scholastic Laugh Out Loud Book Award.

“He has a warm, lovable personality and draws the audience in with his quick-fire delivery” British Theatre Guide

“Has the air of being amiable, carefree and shambolic, which disguises some subtly clever writing. Quietly marvellous songs…Delightful, expertly told anecdotes, rich in descriptive prose” Chortle
